What changes the cost from India
- Flights: pilgrims from India usually fly from Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi and other big cities to Jeddah (for Makkah) or Madinah. Fares are highest in Ramadan and school holidays.
- Hotels: a hotel within walking distance of the Haram costs much more than one a bus ride away. Splitting a room between family members lowers the cost per person.
- Visa and insurance: the Umrah visa is issued through the official Nusuk platform with mandatory medical insurance. Check the current fee on Nusuk before you pay.
- Exchange rate: hotel and transport prices in Saudi Arabia are set in riyals, so a change in the Indian rupees rate changes your total.
Package or plan it yourself?
Flights from India to Jeddah and Madinah are frequent, so fares vary a lot by city and season. Kerala, Hyderabad and Mumbai routes are especially busy in school holidays and Ramadan.
